Annual Conference

NWMAF is monitoring pandemic conditions for 2021. We recognize that some of our members simply won't be comfortable with a large gathering so soon, even if numbers drop significantly by July. Here's what you can count on:

  • There will definitely be an NWMAF conference in July 2021!
  • There will definitely be virtual options for attending!

Even if we do hold an in-person gathering, we are committed to virtual options for BOTH attendees and instructors. And we may decide to go entirely virtual again. We'll let you know our decision next spring. But either way, we hope to see you in July!

Our signature event is a multi-style training camp and professional self-defense instruction conference, held every summer, usually at a different college campus every year. Attendees come from all over the United States, Canada, and beyond. We come:

  • to grow, share our passion, and develop our skills
  • to train with partners that match us in skill, size, strength, or temperament.
  • to participate in a community that has been sustaining us for over 40 years.

Classes for Young Martial Artists and Teens

Attendees ages 6 and up are welcome! We offer a multi-generational training experience.

Many classes are open to all ages, while others are specifically designed for Young Martial Artists (ages 6-12)  and/or Teens (ages 13-18).  Our young students often design a demonstration for the performance on Saturday night.

(Attendees 12 and under must be accompanied to classes by a guardian.)

Super Saturday

Most classes on Saturday are open to all genders. Check out some all-star classes, shop (or sell!) at our bazaar, and come watch our members demonstrate their skills and talents at the close-out performance (free and open to the public). Super, indeed!

(Attendees 12 and under must be accompanied to classes by a guardian.)

Self-Defense Empowerment Model Course

Take all or part of this comprehensive series of skill-building self-defense classes, taught by NWMAF-certified self-defense instructors.  Learn how to escape grabs, fight from the ground, defend against weapons, and much more. No experience necessary!

If you're interested in teaching self-defense, there are plenty of classes designed for self-defense instructors.

Trainers

Instructors are selected from among the best martial artists around the world.  Many have decades of experience and all are committed to teaching excellence.

Apart from amazing classes, camp offers:

  • Showcase performance of attendees' skills - open to the public! (See the video clip below for a sample.)
  • Bazaar where attendees sell and display t-shirts, martial arts gear, artwork, and more.
  • Member social events and a variety of organized meetings.
