Self Defense Leadership Committee (SDLC)

Background

Thanks to Nancy Lanoue (Thousand Waves, Chicago) and Martha Thompson (Impact - Chicago) for all their on-going efforts relating to proposing and defining the work of the SDLC. One goal in the creation of an SDLC is to provide consistent, organized leadership related to long-term strategic planning and to provide infrastructure to support the rapid growth SDIC has experienced in the past few years.

At SDIC 2010, the proposal was discussed and volunteers recruited to begin tasks to:

  1. Facilitate the creation of a Self-Defense Leadership Committee
  2. Define and promote the feminist empowerment model of self-defense
  3. Help build the infrastructure to support ongoing self-defense work within NWMAF with the goal of long-term organizational sustainability
