NWMAF presents... Special Training!
The NWMAF's main event of the year is Special Training, which we have been putting on since 1976. You never grow to old to go away to camp! Special Training is a model of cooperative skill sharing across styles. We emphasize the principles we have in common and appreciate the many different approaches there are to movement and to life.
Special Training is held every summer usually in mid- to late-July. In addition to a 4-day weekend of workouts in martial arts and self defense, Special Training has grown to include a 2-day pre-conference for women self defense instructors. Put it all together, and it's one great week!
More NWMAF Events
Women who belong to the NWMAF often hold events in their local communities. These events may be women-only or co-ed; either way, they are supportive environments for learning and achieving excellence in the martial arts. NWMAF members are invited to attend, and instructors from Special Training are often featured. We encourage members to apply for designation as an official NWMAF Endorsed or Regional Event. Contact the Events Coordinator for more information.
Other Events for Women in the Martial Arts
The NWMAF is proud to be a sister organization of the Pacific Association of Women Martial Artists (PAWMA) and the Association of Women Martial Arts Instructors (AWMAI).
PAWMA hosts a West Coast Women's Training Weekend every summer. This summer's camp will be August 22-25, 2008, at the McKenzie River Conference Center, just east of Eugene Oregon.
AWMAI offers an annual educational conference in January on the beaches of Florida.
